For Chile

A while ago I said I was going to do some art to support the Chilean Miners still trapped in the collapsed mine. They've been deep underground in the refuge chanmber for over a month now and though rescuers are drilling the get them out as soon as they can, cahnces are these people won't reach the surface until December...

I made this drawing to show what the news is showing the world about the Chilean Miners. They are still underground but while watching a short bit of footage they seem to be doing alright, they are getting food supplies and fresh air pumped down to them and are able to communicate with their families on the surface through video phones and writing. In fact, thanks to a small projector sent down to them, the Miners were able to view a live soccer game for entertainment.

Hang in there you guys! The whole world's watching and we hope you can all come up soon!


EDITL As of October 13th all 33 miners have successfuly and safely brought back to the surface via a rescue capsule. All miners are now reunited with their loved one over two month ahead of the previous schedual. Welcome back everyone!!!!!!!

The little note at the bottom was a message sent up from the miners. It means: 'We are all fine in the refuge, all 33 of us.'
